Watch the video from the last claymation workshop from earlier in 2016.Photos From Claymation Workshop Wednesday, October 19, 2016 Location: Sydenham Street United Church – Bottom Floor Hall 2016 - KINGSTON OCTOBER CLAYMATION WORKSHOPThe Kingston Regional Heritage Fair (KRHF) through a grant from the City of Kingston Sesquicentennial Heritage Grant and in collaboration with the Kingston Canadian Film Festival once again this year will offered this very popular workshop to local students. The workshops encouraged students to explore the world of stop-motion Claymation by developing characters, scenery, and props in plasticine. Students were introduced to a range of techniques for capturing their sculptural subjects using readily accessible technology such as tablets and digital cameras. Instructor Kathy Shultz has been working in film and television for over 10 years. Her award winning stop-motion animated short “A Sea Turtle Story” marks her directorial debut and has received many accolades including Official Selection- TIFF KIDS 2012, Golden Apple – for Best Animated Film 2013 at Zlin Film Festival (Czech Republic), Professional Jury Award- Plein la Boubine Film Festival (France). Made for the National Film Board of Canada, the project began as a children’s book about sea turtles based on her experience working with biologists and conservationists in India and Southeast Asia. Kathy currently lives in Toronto, where she also teaches animation to young people and is developing an interactive film project about the Kermode Bear of the Great Bear Rainforest in BC. Jason Nobrega assisted Kathy. A graduate from Ontario College of Art and Design, Jason is an artist and animator with a focus on video post-production and painting.
